Hamburg, Germany, 13 January 2011 * Hamburg-based online translation agency tolingo GmbH has brought a new recruit on board. Since January, company founder Hanno von der Decken has been joined at the helm of tolingo GmbH by 36-year-old Gunnar Piening.
The company has a very good reason for enlisting a new member to join its management team: tolingo plans to achieve strong growth and to penetrate new foreign markets in the coming years. Hanno von der Decken: "Gunnar comes to us with a great deal of experience in helping young internet companies to expand internationally."
Gunnar Piening, who was born in the North German town of Bremervörde, studied at Humboldt University in Berlin and Uppsala University in Sweden before going on to serve as Managing Director of Ciao AG in Munich. Between 1999 and 2006, Piening successfully launched the price comparison site and market research company onto the European, American, Asian and Australian markets. In 2007, he became CEO of Entertainment Shopping AG, the company behind the auction website Swoopo. Under his leadership, Swoopo became the world leader for a new type of entertainment shopping on the internet. Most recently Piening has worked as a consultant for many European internet companies.
"The first step in our international expansion strategy will be to set up sales teams in Great Britain, France and the US," says Gunnar Piening of the next milestone for tolingo. The highly-successful online translation agency based in Hamburg-Ottensen has already published its website in English, French, Italian, Polish and Dutch. Hanno von der Decken: "Our strategic objective is to be one of the world's top five translation agencies within the next three years."
The online translation agency tolingo was founded in 2008. The company employs 35 staff in Hamburg and works with more than 6,000 professional translators worldwide.
